Professionally qualified as a biomedical scientist, Ron has since developed a career involving policy and quality improvement work. He started as a scientist in Leicester before moving into the areas of quality improvement working on many national and regional quality improvement programmes including the development of clinical governance through the National Clinical Governance Support Team
Working within the Department of Health he was Head of Healthcare Quality and Standards with a portfolio including patient safety, inspection and standards development along with more operational elements such as blood and transplant and dentistry as well as input into national IT programmes. Ron has also worked in the private sector as a management consultant and head of strategy for a venture capital firm before taking on the role of Director of the UK Renal Registry (UKRR) in 2011. In 2018 the role was expanded to bring his expertise to the whole of the Renal Association. His expertise to date has been instrumental in the development of the Kidney Quality Improvement Partnership as well as key areas of the UKRR such as Acute Kidney Injury and Patient Reported Experience Measures.
