    Consultant Paediatric Nephrologist and Lead for Renal Metabolic Disorders, Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, UK
    Dr. Hulton was appointed Consultant Paediatric Nephrologist at Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Honorary Senior Lecturer at University of Birmingham UK in 1995. In this position she has served as lead physician in renal metabolic disease and combined liver kidney transplantation. She has particular expertise in the primary hyperoxalurias, establishing the RaDaR and OxalEurope registries. She served as expert member and Vice Chair of the hospital Ethics Committee for over 10 years, and Specialty Training Advisor and Chair of College Specialist Advisory Committee for Paediatric Nephrology for the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) from 2004 -2015.

    Dr. Hulton received her undergraduate degree from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa; her doctoral thesis was awarded from the University of Birmingham following research at the Institute of Child Health in London. She received her fellowship in Paediatrics from the College of Physicians of South Africa (FCP SA) and the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in London (FRCPCH). Dr. Hulton is also a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP).

  • CEO - Ron Cullen

    Professionally qualified as a biomedical scientist, Ron has since developed a career involving policy and quality improvement work. He started as a scientist in Leicester before moving into the areas of quality improvement working on many national and regional quality improvement programmes including the development of clinical governance through the National Clinical Governance Support Team

    Working within the Department of Health he was Head of Healthcare Quality and Standards with a portfolio including patient safety, inspection and standards development along with more operational elements such as blood and transplant and dentistry as well as input into national IT programmes. Ron has also worked in the private sector as a management consultant and head of strategy for a venture capital firm before taking on the role of Director of the UK Renal Registry (UKRR) in 2011. In 2018 the role was expanded to bring his expertise to the whole of the Renal Association. His expertise to date has been instrumental in the development of the Kidney Quality Improvement Partnership as well as key areas of the UKRR such as Acute Kidney Injury and Patient Reported Experience Measures.
