Introducing Best Practice Tariff

NHS Kidney Care has launched a new package of resources to support renal units and commissionersimplement data flows to generate payments for best practice tariff for dialysis. It includes:

  • A slideset showing data showing data flows for the renal dialysis best practice tarriff
  • A how-to guide describing the process in the Leicester Renal Unit
  • A recording of an e-seminar hosted by NHS Kidney Care and led by Jill Cockrill from the NHS Information Centre, which describes the process, data requirements, file formats, and use of the HRG grouper

New report highlights inequalities in CKD

A new report that highlights the inequalities that exist in Chronic Kidney Disease between people of different backgrounds, ethnicity and age was launched by NHS Kidney Care this month. Health Inequalities and Chronic Kidney Disease in Adults summarises the current evidence base on inequalities in kidney disease, looking at the prevalence of CKD, key risk factors for CKD, access to RRT, and access to renal transplantation.

E seminar on forthcoming patient transport survey results

NHS Kidney Care is hosting an e-seminar to look at the final report from the second Transport for Kidney Dialysis Audit, which is due to launch in early June. Following the success of the first patient transport survey in 2008, the NHS Information Centre carried out a repeat survey in October 2010, asking about experiences of travelling to the renal unit for treatment.

The e-seminar will take place at 11.30am on 16th June, following publication of the final report. It is aimed at Trust Transport Leads, PCT Transport Leads, Renal Unit Transport Leads, Renal Unit Transport Co-ordinators, Renal Unit Clinical Directors & Lead Nurses, Renal Unit Business Managers. NHS Kidney Care at BRS/RA

NHS Kidney Care is exhibiting at this year’s BRS/RA conference from 6-9 June, at stand C30. Director Bev Matthews and the NHS Kidney Care programme leads will be available throughout the conference to discuss our key workstreams and projects, and copies of our printed materials will be available from the stand. There will also be demonstrations of new electronic resources, including MORRIS (Model for Optimising Renal Replacement Investment and Services), the QOF toolkit, and e-learning models on End of Life Care in Advanced kidney disease, Chronic Kidney Disease, and Acute Kidney Injury.
