Request for Expressions of Interest for Speakers at the Combined Mayo Clinic 2 Day Meeting

Minnesota, Friday 27- Saturday 28 September 2013 Please note this is a provisional date and is subject to change

The Mayo Clinic run an annual Nephrology and Hypertension course in Minneapolis, and have approached the Renal Association to identify 6 – 8 members to contribute to the 2013 meeting. This is a relatively small (50-70 people) meeting consisting mainly of local and regional nephrologists. The audience will comprise of clinicians, so the topics are clinically oriented and do not involve basic science research.

The talks (30 to 40 min each) would typically include updates on various topics, reviews of recent literature and case study presentations. There will also be some debates (usually 60-90 min sessions). In order to keep some interaction with the audience, an audience response system will be used.

The first day will cover various topics in clinical nephrology, dialysis and hypertension. The day will conclude with a pathology round table, where cases are presented by nephrologists, and biopsies reviewed by a pathologist followed by discussion after each case.

The first half of the second day will include transplant related topics and the second half clinical topics and a board review session.

Speakers will need to arrange and pay for their own flights and travel to Minneapolis, but the organisers will provide accommodation and meals.

If you are interested in contributing to this meeting on behalf of the Renal Association, please submit your details and your suggested topic to the Renal Association Secretariat, via email to Renal@MCI-group.com no later than the deadline of Monday 3 September 2012.

We welcome self-nominations or nominations of colleagues who are interested in establishing links with the Mayo Clinic.
