UK Renal Registry – Opportunity for out of programme experience Clinical Fellow in adult or paediatric renal medicine (ST3+ level)
An opportunity has arisen for a specialist registrar in renal medicine to be seconded for a period of out of programme experience with the UK Renal Registry (UKRR), based at Southmead Hospital in Bristol. This post is for two years, subject to satisfactory progress reviews.
The UKRR is internationally recognised for its important work in measuring the standards of care of patients with end-stage kidney disease across the United Kingdom. The successful applicant will be based in the UKRR office and act as first point of contact for clinical data queries for UKRR colleagues, including statisticians and data managers. We are seeking someone who will contribute to the core work of the UKRR including the preparation its annual report whilst developing their own programme of work involving audit, quality improvement, green nephrology, leadership, management or research. The skills and experience obtained during this time will be invaluable for an applicant aiming to become a local quality assurance/ audit lead in the future. The UKRR would be keen to work with a successful applicant to plan this work ahead of their start date.
Candidates must be functioning at ST3 level or above and have, or be eligible for, GMC registration that allows them to work in posts that are not recognised for training. It is desirable that candidates have experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices or equivalent.
Please note, while it is hoped that the post holder will undertake some research during their time at UKRR it is the University of Bristol’s opinion that this 2-year job would not provide sufficient protected research time to undertake a formal doctoral research degree. If a candidate is particularly interested in achieving a doctoral research degree whilst working at UKRR they are encouraged to contact the Medical Director to discuss this in advance of being called to interview.
Applications will be considered for full and part time appointments.
You will be paid at the unbanded rate at your level of SpR training
