Reports

The UK Renal Registry creates and issues a number of reports. A brief description of the purpose and content of each report is provided below:

  • Annual Reports

    • The first Annual Report was issued in 1997. The reports compare the care provided to people receiving kidney replacement therapy against national standards. The data are split by treatment type (transplant, in-centre haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and home haemodialysis), as well as by adults and children. The appendices cover the methodologies, and provide basic analyses at Integrated Care System and health board level.
  • Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) Reports

    • These reports demonstrate the impact of AKI on the English population.
    • They also show the different demographics and outcomes of various groups of people with AKI, but in particular, people who are entirely cared for in the community versus those who are admitted to hospital with their AKI, or develop it during their stay.
  • Disparities Reports

    • These reports are part of an ongoing project by the UK Kidney Association to make reporting and analysis of inequalities in kidney care part of our role.
    • There are separate reports for age, sex, ethnicity and socioeconomic status.
    • The reports use the term ‘disparities’ as opposed to ‘inequalities’ because they only look at differences in the care and outcomes of patient groups. The reports do not provide insight on whether care and outcomes would be equal or fair, if all differences between the groups were considered.
  • COVID-19 surveillance reports

    • These reports cover the period 1 March 2020 to 2 March 2022.
    • They provide data on laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases in chronic kidney disease and kidney replacement therapy patients in adult renal centres in England, Northern Ireland and Wales.
    • Data from Scotland is included for the period March to August 2020 only.
